Artwork Story: I WENT FISHING – THE DEATH OF PERFECTION
"I Went Fishing" is a radical, multi-layered mixed media work born from pure, celebratory exhaustion. Through the "Archaeological Fission" method, I chose to destroy a meticulously painted, long-considered portrait purely because I was bored of its importance.
Philosophy & Inspiration
This piece is a humorous, neo-expressionist farewell to artist self-importance and the paralyzing grip of perfectionism. After dedicating months to a "serious" work, I went "fishing" for raw energy. Behind the new vibrant chaos, the ghosts of the original, perfect figure remain, now obscured by a celebratory short-circuit. It is a visual testament to the moment an artist chooses to prioritize life and raw creativity over technical perfection.
Technical Details
High-quality acrylics, oil, and mixed media. The physical evidence of the destroyed portrait lies buried beneath layers of aggressive, vibrant, electric paint. Signed on the back (verso)
