The Encounter is a psychological shape-shifter. Developed through my "Archaeological Fission" method, this double portrait does not dictate a single story; instead, it morphs according to the emotional state of the viewer. It is a visual enigma that comes alive only when witnessed.
Inspiration & Philosophy
The canvas is heavy with unanswered questions. Is the man dying, or is he deeply wounded? Whose hand is pressing against his chest—is it a protector, a lover, or a stranger? The blinding beams of light striking their faces introduce a cinematic tension: is it a rescue beacon, an alien intervention, or a police searchlight cutting through the dark? I painted their eyes to follow the viewer into every corner of the room, ensuring that the gaze remains inescapable. The story isn't finished on the canvas—it is born in the mind of whoever looks at it.
The layers are intensely scratched and scraped to emphasize the shifting nature of the narrative.
